Tip, Jack Pumpkinhead, and Scarecrow riding in the Flying Gump. They are out searching for Old Mombi, the witch, before she did any more magic.
This is from "The Land of Oz, Being an account of the further adventures of the Scarecrow and Tin Woodman, and also the strange experiences of the Highly Magnified Woggle-Bug, Jack Pumpkinhead, the antimated saw-Horse, and the Flying Gump; being A sequel to The Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum. Published 1904
When I read the list of required items for this activity and saw that it included a sofa, there was no way I could not make a Flying Gump. For those of you who have not read the book, let me quote the words that explain a Gump. A Gump is described as "resembling an Elk's head, only the nose turned upward in a saucy manner and there were whiskers upon its chin, like those of a billy-goat."
The Gump is attached to the front of the sofa. The wings are some palm fronds. The whole thing was brought to life by the boy Tip using some magic powder of life which Tip had stolen from Old Mombi the Witch after he saw her bring Jack Pumpkinhead to life.
You really need to read the story. And read it to your children and Grandchildren!
